Bringing the Healing Influence of Music and Art to the Flats
When our beautiful baby boy Leo was in the hospital one of his favorite things was when the wonderful music therapist Greta came with her guitar, playing and singing softly to him. He responded by being noticeably more relaxed, his heart rate and breathing settled down, and he turned his head toward her. Our friend Melody also came and sang to him as he gazed at her face. Music can soothe each one of us and our family places a high priority on making it a part of each day.
When we learned that Sanjay enjoys playing guitar we decided this was a great time to get a guitar for Leo’s Kids Flats. Sanjay has been able to play when he feels up to it and the other Leo’s Kids benefit from being near live music. We hope it will bring joy to them for a long time.
Another thing our older two children enjoyed while Leo was in the hospital was being able to play games, do crafts, and just be kids for awhile. Harimaya from Leo’s Kids Foundation in Nepal brought a badminton set, some board games, and books for drawing to the flats so the kids who want to can play and enjoy some fun activities in their down time.
What do you think of Sanjay’s playing? His English is excellent so please feel free to leave a comment below to let him know it’s great to hear him play.
