A Cancer Diagnosis Should Not Mean You Lose Help and Hope
Our original plan was to help pay for the living expenses of 3 kids, and gradually move on from there. But through your massive support and donations pouring in, we can now help these kids in more ways and help at least 3 other children in need. The Nepal Government provides NRs. 1,00,000 (about $882 at present) to cancer patients for their treatment and once this money is spent, for many families, help ends there. So they are forced to stop treatment for their child.
Social worker, Ms. Babita Shrestha is helping us connect with such children who need urgent help to continue their treatment. Today, we talked to Ms. Shrestha about the challenges of childhood cancer in Nepal. She recalled an incident about an old woman and her sons, who were suffering from cancer. She also mentioned how people lose touch with you to avoid helping. It allowed us to understand how we can effectively support these children on different levels to help them win the battle against cancer.
