We have been working on this newsletter for the past month and a half, and we finally got it done. We had planned to do a newsletter quarterly or at least semi-annually, but we finally have our second one for the year. Please take a moment and check out this issue of the Leonardo Edward Shrestha Foundation newsletter we just posted.
What a year we have had! We went from three Leo’s Kids to 22 Leo’s Kids families served so far! Six graduated and we had heartbreaking news about seven of our precious Leo’s Kids. During this time we also said good-bye to one of our board members, Leo’s grandma. This newsletter is a helpful way to see all our beautiful and strong Leo’s Kids together in one place.
We finally have a permanent Leo’s Kids Flats building which can house up to 11 families in one community building. We also have been supporting several families who wanted to stay closer to their other treatment centers.
We received our tax exempt status so we are now approved by the IRS in the United States as a 501(c)(3) charity. We are grateful to be able to accept donations through Facebook and from Amazon Smile whenever you place an Amazon order through smile.amazon.com.
We had our first successful blood drive event in Nepal with many more to come. We also had our first Team Leo’s Kids annual benefit on Leo’s birthday.
Last but not least, our incredibly supportive friend and advocate Harald Baldr conducted the Greek Giveaway Contest which surpassed our goal of $15,000 which Harald personally matched for a total raised of $33,336!
We have had a successful year thanks to all of you who are part of Team Leo’s Kids! You have all come together to change the stories for these children and their families. We absolutely could not have done any of this without your faithful support and encouragement every step of the way.
Please like and share this post with anyone you know who might be interested in the important work Team Leo’s Kids is doing to help support children with cancer in Nepal along with their families.
